My sunroof, maplight and visor lights all went out. At first they would work again after the car ran for some time. Now they don’t work at all. The MB dealer thinks it it needs a new modular at a cost of $1500. Anyone else had this problem? Car is too old to keep sinking more cash. Already replaced both Xenon lamps & two window lifts!
I had a similar problem with an older Benz. The turn signals did not work at first but after the car warmed up they began to function. Eventually they failed altogether. Replaced the fuse of course and even checked the relay. But the cause was a multi-pin connector that was working loose. Look for these and any that you find either squeeze together or pull apart entirely, spray with contact cleaner from you local electronics place and put back together.
Another possibility is that all these have a common ground connection which has worked loose.
As already suggested, if the relay is the thing try mb spares and service in Australia or buymbparts in the USA for good used or new “old stock” parts sourced from closed dealerships. Don’t know about elsewhere in the world though. Check Mercedes Enthusiast magazine for English/European suppliers.
Also get the opinion of a specialist car electrician if you can find one before you lay out the cash.
Get onto one or more of the excellent MB forums on the net and ask there. Some of the people on these forums know certain models better than the designers.
My battery light came on tonight, what kind of repair costs am I likely looking at to fix it?
I have a 2002 honda civic and on my way home from work I noticed the battery light was on right after starting my car up. The car started with no problem and it drove like normal. I looked in the owner’s manual and it said the system is not charging the battery. What could have caused this to happen? Also, how much approximately, will it cost to repair it?
It sounds like the alternator is failing. The alternator is what powers the vehichle’s battery and keeps the battery charged. If the battery light was on, that means that it’s using power from the battery and it’s not recharging. Take it to a mechanic and have the alternator tested. Good luck.

If the lamp is going to be utilized for reading or other activities that require adequate light, the size is especially crucial. The lamp and lampshade need to be large enough to illuminate the area for reading. It is helpful for the height of the bottom of the lampshade to rest at the same level as the ear of a person positioned on the bed, couch, or chair. Making measurements of all of these factors ahead of time will save you time later. Measure the table height and circumference and measure the height from the floor to the ear of a person sitting on the furniture. Additionally, take the weight of the lamp into consideration. If there are young children around the house, a heavier lamp base has a smaller chance of being pushed over. Lighter weight lamps should be used in areas that draw less traffic in the home.
The wattage of a lamp fixture needs to be appropriate for the purpose of the lamp. Most lamp fixtures support a 60 watt light bulb. This is fine if the purpose of the lamp is mostly decorative or additional to existing lighting. However, if the lamp is used for reading or is one of few or only fixtures in a room a lamp that holds three bulbs or more will be much more efficient, if they produce 60 watts each. Most people should have 100 watts of light for reading, and there are some reading lamps that produce this wattage with a single bulb, but if you cannot find a fixture like this, a three-way fixture will work just as well.
The materials and styles of lamps are the most flexible options. The style of the room does not even have to completely match the lamp, which goes for the lamp material as well. As long as the finish of the fixture is complimentary or matching to the surface the lamp will rest on, the material can be chosen by taste. To narrow the search, decide on a contemporary or traditional style first and proceed by finding the right sized and proportioned lamps. Lamps need to pull a room together, whether that is by pulling two colors together or filling a space with good light, and without the right proportions it will be difficult.
Picking the right lamp fixture may be the final factor in the success of your home lighting. Lamps are crucial decorative pieces that must provide the light you need while tying the room design together. Take the time to measure precisely and choose wisely.

1. How much should I spend on it? I’ve found a couple in the 99c only stores, but I decided that’s probably not a good idea to get a dollar book light.

I’d like to be able to use it in bed and while in in an airplane or something.
A good idea is not to buy a cheap one, somewhere in the 10$ range is probably good, 20$ is probably better but… I don’t know if I’d get a 20$ booklight, I’d rather get a new book for that price, anyway, I have one that simply hooks onto the back and the light flips out and automatically turns on when it’s open… it’s nice, but I find sometimes it’s annoying due to how it flips open. If you can find one get a book light where it hooks on, but the actual light is attached to a flexible rod. I don’t know how to explain it, it’s like a hook, but then the wires go through a sort of flexible tubing and the light is attached to that, that way your able to position it anyway you like and page flips won’t be a problem
