I am a proud possessor of a Fujitsu- Siemens notebook. Would like to disable my notebook’s touch pad. I’ve checked in Control Panel – Mouse – Settings, but the touch pad is not even mentioned there as an installed piece of hardware. There is no switch, that I could use to disable it. Everybody says I can disable it in Control Panel, but it’s just plain untrue. Help me, please. It’s a difficult question, I know, but try, please.

it depends on how old your laptop is as to what the manufacturer may have included in the way of switching on and off the touch-pad.
Some of the older ones the only way to switch it off is in the BIOS.
Others have a switch just at the top of the touch-pad
newer ones have a function switch option, you press the Fn button and one of the F keys (F7?) you should see a symbol that usually looks like a hand with a pointing finger.
Others do have an option in the Touch-pad settings but often the laptop comes with just the generic mouse settings installed and not the specific touchpad settings and this option is not available.
You can try and install the correct touch-pad drivers from the Fuji website and see if the options are then available if the other alternatives above don’t allow the touch-pad to be switched off.
